We celebrated Emily’s 3rd BD yesterday with friends & family

The main event for Emily’s 3rd BD was “Happy Birds”, a performing parrot show

Seven beautiful & friendly parrots entertained us all and Emily even got a kiss from pretty “Piper”

This particular bird is a trainee to the show.  Emily is feeding him an almond.

The bird show consisted of various birds riding a bike, riding a scooter, singing songs, making other animal impersonations, skateboarding, opening water bottles, etc.

Max was an active participant in the audience with lots of questions for the “Bird Lady”.  He loved it!

Kedryn giving Suzanne a manicure with various colored polish, but mostly a monster green color!  Instead of brushing in nice strokes, he went in little circles (sometimes big circles) all over the fingernail and finger too!  I also had the pleasure of getting a manicure compliments of Kedryn.

Brynn, Kedryn, Emily & Max had a sleepover downstairs together.  Brynn slept on the couch and the other three in sleeping bags on the floor.  They were soooooooooooo excited!!!!

We celebrated my Dad’s 75th Birthday on June 24th while we were back East

We asked Dad to invite a few special friends over to Suzy & Scott’s house for dinner for his BD.  He invited Annie, Betty, Curt & Holly to join us.  Suzanne made an awesome meal of BBQ chicken, corn, pasta salad, a yummy strawberry/almond green salad, etc.  I, of course, was in charge of the cake and decorations … more my speed.

Papa Dave, Auntie Suzy Q, Uncle Scott, Brynn, Kedryn, Max, Emily & I piled in my dad’s van and drove to The Land of Little Horses in Gettysburg on Wednesday, June 23rd. 

Grandma Orlie & my parents use to take my sister & I there when we were young and I have such wonderful fond memories of the place.

It was the place where my love of horses began

and a special place that I wanted to share with Max & Emily.

I have to chuckle a little bit.  Papa Dave took all 4 grandkids to the Gift Store afterwards and told them they could pick out anything they wanted.  The store was mostly filled with horse related gifts as you can imagine.  Emily chose a small purple ball and Max chose two small hamsters?!?!  HUH?!?!  There were stuffed horses, beautiful Breyer horses, horse games, horse clothing, horse everything!!  A Hamster?  A Ball?  I don’t get it!    LOL!

Papa Dave, Auntie Suzy Q, Cousin Brynn & Cousin Kedryn met us at the Washington National Zoo on the hottest day in history according to me.  They were picking us up to take us back to Suzy Q’s house in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
