First stop was a lovely lunch spot featuring hummingbirds

We arrived at the bank of the Napo River in the evening to take our canoe ride to Casa del Suizo Hotel

Great Uncle Dorian (aka “GUD”) deeted up in an attempt to repel the mosquitos

David ready to go! He probably needed to deet up a little more than he did ’cause he was eaten alive by the mosquitos

The next day we jumped on the tour bus again and headed to Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World)

Max a little freaked out about it which is kind of funny because he is having a reptile/bug/beetle party for his 6th Birthday next month!

David was the first to attempt the “beetle thing”.

Emily wanted to do this too, but her face was smaller than the beetle

Then we headed to Maria Elena’s house for what they refer to as “lunch” at 4pm’ish.

We drove from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. to visit Oma & John. Suppose to be about a 4 1/2 hour drive which ended up being about 7 hours due to traffic in the D.C. area. There was no sleeping going on, but the kids did quite well traveling and singing an original, one of a kind song they made up that I entitled “Kyle & Alexis” since those were the only lyrics. They basically chanted “Kyle & Alexis” over and over and over and over and over again …

We spent most of the day on Saturday at Norma’s pool and then John & Oma babysat for us while Wallace & I went to a fabulous restaurant in Washington, D.C. called “Cafe Atlantico” & owned by Jose Andres.
