Christmas in Florida 2005
There was certainly no white Christmas for us this year. We took Max to meet Sarah's parents in Melbourne, FL and enjoyed a extremely relaxing holiday.
This is the lake in back of their house with Dave's sunfish early one morning.

Here is Grandma Jane with some of her Christmas decorations behind her.

Dolphins in Hawaii
Sarah and I took a quick getaway trip to Hawaii April, 2004 and had dinner at Hoku's at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Hawaii outside of Honolulu. The lagoon out back (actually pools) housed these playful dolphins.
Bird in the Bahamas
We went on a family reunion three day Disney cruise June 2003 with the Kortekaas/deWind/Colyer/Krasnoff families. The cruise was great and even the gangs of roaming 12 year olds at 2 in the morning was interesting. Sarah and I went on a tour of Atlantis on our Bahamas stop and saw this bird. If anyone knows what it is please leave a comment.
Tobago Cay, Grenadines
We did a bareboat sailing trip to St. Vincent and the Genadines in June 2004 with Dave, Jane, Dale, Sarah and I. The Tabago Cays are a set of four islets surrounded by a horseshoe reef. We had quite a scare here when we snorkeled outside the reef. My father, Dave, Sarah and I took the dingy through the dingy pass and moored it in the middle of the pass. We hopped out and it was the most fabulous snorkeling I had ever done. There was a 240 foot drop and fish everywhere. We were swimming along and one by one we realized that we were moving awfully fast. The current had caught us and there was no way to fight it. We had two choices, out into the sea or into the reef with the waves crashing over it. The reef it was. By the time we got there my father was wiped out and got banged up, but Dave and Sarah were able to make it to the dingy and bring it over the reef to us.
This is a picture of our dingy at Petit Rameau one of the four Tabago Cay islets.

I have decided to make these two pictures. One of a landscape or item and the other of people. This picture is of Dave and Jane walking along the reef in their snorkel gear right off shore of Petit Rameau.

Christmas in Costa Rica
Sarah and I went to Costa Rica for Christmas 2003 to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We had done our honeymoon in Costa Rica and it sounded like the perfect place to check out 10 years later.
Things had changed quite a bit. The road had improved and there was a lot more tourism it was a lot easier to get around. The only real problem I had was that there were billboards in English.
This was taken at Manuel Antonio Park outside of Quepos using my Cannon Digital Rebel.

A full set of photos from the trip can be found here.
A PDF slideshow can be found here.

France Barge Trip
This was a fabulous family vacation which I recommend heartily. We rented a barge on the Canal du Nivernais from Crown Blue Lines in June 2003.
The trip was wonderful, though if you decide to help the lock keepers (which I did) it can be a lot of work as there are more than 50 locks and several wonderful draw bridges. Choosing the picture was very difficult for this trip. I choose the following which was taken as I left on an early morning bike ride before everyone got up midway through the trip. The canal turned here and went through a set of tunnels. It was an interesting spot because it was the highest elevation on the canal. We had been climbing until we got here and the water flowed downhill to both end points of the canal from this point. I took it with Bart's borrowed Nikon ES700.

A selection of the pictures can be found here.
A large PDF slide show (you have to wait for the entire thing to load for the show to start) can be found here.
