Sarah took Max through the car wash and this is what happened.

Scooters

It was a nice day yesterday and spring forward gave me some daylight time at home so I took the kids to Oak Meadow Park with their scooters (courtesy of John).

Emily is trying to keep up with Max and he patiently waits for her when he gets too far ahead.

Emily scooting around the park.

Emily has gotten quite proficient at riding her scooter.

We have resolved all the issues with Max and Emily’s blogs. We should start seeing the old photos coming back. Max’s are all restored now and Emily’s are on their way.

We took a stroll along the Tidal Basin on Max’s last day in DC.

The first stop was the Roosevelt Memorial. Here the boys are riding his dog.

Max is checking out the water at the memorial.

Next stop was the Jefferson Memorial. Nick was taking pictures with Grandpa’s camera on the steps and I caught this sequence.

Some pictures of the boys at the memorial.

On the walk back to the car the boys needed a drink.

It turns out Max is a tree hugger.

Max and I went to visit his grandparents in DC this weekend. His cousins, Nick and Alex, were visiting from St Louis at the same time. I was planning to take him to see the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Gutenberg Bible, and perhaps a ballet at the Kennedy Center. He had different ideas.

Max wanted to see the “animals” so we went to the National Zoo.

The first step was to take the Metro to the zoo. Here Alex, Nick and Max are waiting for the Metro. Nick is reading the instructions for Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Then we got to the zoo and Alex got a map to direct us.

Not long after getting to the zoo a bribe was needed to keep the kids corralled. The grandparents are buying the bribe.

Max with his bribe.

Wheh! Walking to the Metro, riding the Metro, walking to the zoo and a small walk in the zoo after the ice cream totally wiped them out!

The ride back on the Metro.

And a bonus picture of Max sleeping the night we arrived.

Today we had Ms. Emily’s first real long duration standing events.

Here she is standing.

Look Ma, no hands!

and then finally she plops down:

Cute and comfortable on the floor:

Max and Emily are showing their preferences for the general election.

Here are a couple of pictures of Emily with her mother after she got out of the pool.

Max and I went to Disneyland for a father and son weekend on Friday. We drove down to LA Friday evening and came back Sunday morning. Max was very good on the drive both directions. I got a little grumpy when I got home!

We had a great time at Disneyland, visiting a few new rides we had not been on before. This was Max’s third time at Disney.

Here max is traversing one of the bridges on Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island.

There were lots of lines and Max endured them well. We did get one fastpass for Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters. Max actually shot some of the targets!

Toontown was Max’s second favorite area. His favorite ride was the bus from the hotel.

All Max could do (when he wasn’t clamouring for the bus) was talk about Mickey Mouse, but Max was scared of him when we finally got to Mickey’s house.

Here he was the first time he met Mickey.

Max really liked Goofy’s house. He wanted to know where Goofy was the whole time. He asked me, “Goofy night night?” Then Max decided Goofy was “night night” up in the top of his house.

This little girl decided to cohabitate the pumpkin in Goofy’s back yard with Max and Max wanted to evict her.

Max wanted to drive the truck and there were 3 girls who wanted their picture taken who had gotten there first. They let Max have a run at it and then I convinced him to give up his seat for their picture. He was ok with it as long as he could get back in when they left. “Ok, Daddy” he said.

We then waited an hour in line for Roger Rabit’s Car Toon Spin. It was a lot of fun, but we were now past Max’s bed time and it was time to leave Toontown. We had one more stop to get gumbo in New Orleans square (well Max had a jump cookie) and then it was off to the fun bus ride back to the hotel. “Bus Daddy, bus!”

Max saw his first fireworks on our way out. “Wow,” he said.

I could think of no better present than a fun filled day with my boy. We went to Gilroy Gardens for the first time of the season (they just opened back up last weekend). It was raining while Max and I drove down so we were pretty worried, but it only drizzled a little bit while we were in the park. That scared people away and we almost had no lines!

Here Max is on the flower boat ride with a cheesy smile.

Max in the Ferris Wheel gazing out on the view. Actually in a Ferris Wheel you only face forward so this is a Panoramic Wheel.

Max looking very serious driving the cars.

Here is a ride where Max can ride alone, Bulgy the Goldfish. WHEH! I am glad they didn’t make me fit in there with him.
