Little Miss Emily

Little Miss Emily was very listless and lethargic, during the day on Friday, so we ended up taking her to the Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Room on Friday evening. I thought we had scored big time with the "perfect" baby; however, it turns out she was jaundice and a side effect is lethargy. Luckily, the bilirubin numbers weren't high enough for her to be admitted into the NICU. They felt that she had reached the peak and was plateauing.

She loves to be held & kissed. Max likes to kiss her toes! :-)

Emily Comes Home

Sarah and Emily were released from the hospital today. Here they are ready to leave. It reminds me of this event.

Max welcomes Sarah home. He was real excited to see her back.

WOW! We were worried Max would be jealous or ignore her, but he is smitten by her. Max crawls up on the chair so he can look in on her inside the bassinet. He wants to touch her. Our boy just seems to have immediately loved her and welcomed her to the family. Here he is with the Oma checking out Emily.

...and now a time for a snooze on the floor with Emily.

Emily's Hospital Visitors

A couple others came by to drop off goodies (Babette and Sarah), but we did not get their pictures. Their goodies were certainly great and well appreciated.

Here are some pictures of Emily's hospital visitors.

John came the first night and Emily took an immediate liking to him.

Laura came by Sunday afternoon and was exuding love.

Sandy just didn't want to let Emily go when the nurse came in to check on her.

First Day Video

To finish off her first day - here is a video of Emily taken this evening.

First Day

An early picture of Emily right after they put her first diaper on.

Emily's first bath.

A couple pictures after they bathed her.

Here are a selection of pictures from Emily's first day.

The Oma visiting Emily. I think she is smitten by her first grand daughter.

It's a Girl

WHEH! Sarah was worrying that Emily would appear as a girl. She is adorable. Born 9:01 am PST, 6lbs 7 ounces. 18 inches.

Mom and baby are dong very well.

It's the Day

We are at the hospital eagerly awaiting Emily's arrival. All is well and Sarah is in good spirits.

Here she is all hooked up with wires, tubes and other gadgets. She is on the cell phone with her mother.

Emily Luisa UPDATE

Emily Luisa will be arriving a bit earlier than expected. Her initial due date was August 15th, however I don't believe she wants to share an August BD with her brother. She wants her very own month and I guarantee she will have it!

We are trying to stop/slow down contractions/labor with some steroid medication used to treat asthma. It's been a rough 24 hours though. The OB/GYN stresses that every day she stays in is 3 less days in the NICU. She will be delivered in the Operating Room instead of the Labor & Delivery Room and she will be whisked away, but hopefully the results will be similar to Max as far as lung development, etc. They are estimating that she will weigh about 5 lbs. Not too bad for a kid that wants to come 6 weeks early.

We'll keep you posted ...
