Max ready for school this morning.  He decided against wearing a hat for “Hat Day”.  He tends to buck the system!  :-)   Surprise!  Surprise!

This is the hand print wall of graduates from Little Oak Preschool.

Max becomes an offical graduate by implanting his pink handprint marking the walls of Little Oak Preschool for decades to come!  :-)

He will begin a Junior Kindergarten program in the Fall.

Today was Emily’s last day of preschool

It was “Hat Day” at school so she picked out this hat.  My mom (a.k.a. “Nana”) got this particular hat for her when she turned ONE in July 2008.

She also chose to accessorize with a pretty lavender confetti scarf made by one of my Dad’s friends, Carol.

Here she is running to school on her last day!

Emily’s year as a Red Bird has been a wonderful, positive experience.  I am looking forward to her starting as a Green Frog in the Fall and following her big brother’s foot steps through Little Oak.

Max had his 5 year old appointment last Friday.

Below are his stats:

Weight:         42 lbs.   — 60% percentile

Height:          44 1/2 inches — 90% percentile

This appointment lasted over 1 hour and included a hearing test, eye exam, urine test, writing test, physical test (hopping on one foot across the room, skipping, etc), a shape recognition test & lots of questions from the Pediatrian.  For example:  The Pediatrician asked him what foods do you eat?  Max says, “Hot Dogs, Chicken Nuggets & Pepperoni”.  YIKES!  I was suppose to be a quiet bystander so I just sat there, but she shot me a look! Then she asked about vegetables and Max tells her that he doesn’t like any vegetables.  Then he adds, “YUCK”!  Oh Geez!  I got lots of literature on nutrition afterwards.  She did suggest that we see an Occupational Therapist.  She feels that he may have some sensory/tactical issues.

The appointment also included 5 shots!!!!!!!!!  Poor Max!  The RN was excellent and very fast as Max was yelling, “This is not a good place!  I am not coming back here ever again!  This is not a good place!”  I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry!

He’s got all his shots and he is ready to head to Junior Kindergarten in the Fall!!!!   :-)

UPDATE:  This was a drawing that Max drew for Emily, not one that Emily drew.  Emily loves Bandaids so Max gave her a bunch of them.   Not sure what the bomb means!

It was Max’s Preschool Graduation tonight.  The preschool had a professional photographer come in and take some photos of the kids.  The photo was Little Oak Preschool’s gift to the parents.

It was quite a night!  Over 300 guests including the preschool graduates, siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and special friends attended.

Sweet Emily all dolled up for the special event.

Emily & her former teacher, Miss Amyee, who left for a new job a couple months ago attended Graduation.  Emily was thrilled to see her!  They have a special bond.

The boys were dressed in black gowns and caps and walked in two by two.  Max & his paired graduating friend.

Each of the kids carried a pretty sunflower.  Seeing him walking in brought a tear to my eye.  He’s been at Little Oak for 3 years as a Red Bird, Green Frog and now a Polar Bear!  Emily will be following his foot steps through Little Oak.

Our Little Graduate (a bit serious)

Max with his special graduation book “Miss Begindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten”

Max is a little rosey & sweaty.  It was 82-84 degrees in the hot sun!

Eating a powdered sugar donut after the ceremony

Max insisted that Wallace read the book to him straight away.  :-)

Congratulations Max!  Mommy, Daddy & Sister Emily are so very proud of you!!  We love you!!

Emily continued to enjoy her second swim lesson

She is learning how to kick with her feet & legs with the flippers

She will receive a Rainbow Ribbon next lesson if she completes 3 lessons in a row without crying.  :-)   That’s the requirement.
